Long periods of hibernation is one of the things that Dormice are famous for. Dormice can hibernate for six months in a year, sometimes longer if the weather is cold. This sleepy characteristic is reflected in the Dormouse character in Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
